Bass campaign to return $9,700 after questions over contractor donations — Sep 4, 2026Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is refunding $9,700 in campaign contributions from Danny Bakewell Sr. and other leaders of the Brotherhood Crusade-Black United Fund after The Times questioned whether donors tied to a city-contracted anti-gang nonprofit violated ethics rules.
