Ethiopia sweeps Berlin Marathon titles — Sep 27, 2026Ethiopia’s Guye Adola won the Berlin Marathon men’s race in about 2:02:50, while compatriot Tigst Assefa took the women’s title in 2:11:04. Assefa had been on pace to challenge the world record but suffered a leg injury in the closing kilometers; defending men’s champion Sabastian Sawe withdrew before the race with an injury.

Rachel Meyers Sawe pulling out before the start left the men's race without its defending champ and made the Ethiopian sweep easier than expected.
