75 Florida Deputies Aid Isaias Recovery

Santa Rosa County is recovering from Hurricane Isaias, which brought widespread wind damage, downed trees, blocked roads and power outages. Sheriff’s offices from across Florida have sent deputies to support local law enforcement, clear access routes and provide relief; the multiagency deployment includes 75 deputies, with its initial period expected to last seven to 10 days. County crews are clearing debris from roadways, and officials have imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew until further notice. Milton sustained significant damage, including to the Milton High School gym roof. The county expects its first debris pickup pass to begin October 14 and asks residents to separate vegetative debris from construction materials, leave debris loose along the public right-of-way and keep it clear of utilities and roadways.
