Air Force Beats Navy, Advances Trophy Bid

Liam Szarka scored two second-quarter rushing touchdowns as Air Force beat Navy 14-9 on Oct. 3, 2026, at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs before 39,441. His 1-yard run with 9:11 left and 8-yard run with 33 seconds left made it 14-3 at halftime after Nolan Bartley's 29-yard field goal. Jackson Gutierrez later hit Truman Brasfield for a 68-yard touchdown; the two-point try failed, and Brasfield's score was his first career touchdown. Air Force improved to 3-1 and snapped a five-game losing streak against the service academies. Navy fell to 1-3 on its third straight loss and first three-game skid since 2021 and was held to 110 rushing yards, ending a 19-game streak of 170 or more. Matt Seliga intercepted Szarka and returned it 12 yards before Vic Listorti fumbled, recovered by Air Force. Coleman Cauley's fourth-down stop gave Navy the ball at the Air Force 49; Navy failed to convert. Navy's final possession stalled at its own 13 with under two minutes left. Coach Troy Calhoun said, "This was as gutty and hard as it gets. You have to win two, but you got to get one. And we got one." CONTESTED: none found.
