AISA President Neha Bora Detained at Delhi Protest

Neha Bora, president of the All India Students’ Association, was among activists detained at a youth-led protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration was fueled by allegations that electoral-roll deletions could disenfranchise voters and benefit the ruling BJP; the Election Commission has described the removals as routine cleanup, while the government has rejected claims of electoral wrongdoing. Bora’s red T-shirt featuring the Straw Hat Pirates’ Jolly Roger from One Piece drew attention, as the flag has become a recognizable symbol at youth protests in several countries. Some accounts frame it as a symbol of resistance and freedom, while a critical outlet stresses its appearance at violent unrest abroad and portrays its use in Delhi as politically deliberate.
