Apollo reportedly submits nonbinding bid for Uniper
Apollo Global Management submitted a non-binding offer for Uniper, joining a competitive auction for the German utility Berlin rescued with €13.5 billion in 2022. Germany owns 99.12% and is considering selling up to a 74.12% stake in a transaction that could value Uniper at about €10 billion. Other bidders include Czech energy group EPH, controlled by Daniel Kretinsky; a Brookfield–CPPIB consortium; Norway’s Equinor; and a KKR–RWE consortium. Suitors had until September 21 to submit indicative bids. The finance ministry is advised by UBS and JPMorgan. Bidders are expected to learn in the coming weeks whether they advance. What is contested: None found in the record. The account traces to a Reuters report citing two people with direct knowledge. Apollo, Uniper, and KKR declined to comment; Equinor was not immediately available. TipRanks reported APO stock rose about 0.5% on Tuesday, closing at $115.95.
