Art exhibitions span communities in Britain, US
Edinburgh pupils from Granton Primary created 28 paintings inspired by the Old and New Towns World Heritage Site for an exhibition marking its 30th anniversary, opening at the Museum of Edinburgh. In Knoxville, Lilienthal Gallery is presenting Hand + Hue: Echoes of Impressionism, featuring five artists whose work reflects the movement’s influence on contemporary art. Keith Ashley’s solo show Out of Season at Paul Smith Space pairs paintings of decaying imported flowers with urban imagery to explore displacement, artificiality and belonging. In West Linton, a photography project by five photographers displayed portraits of about 100 residents in places where they feel at ease, creating a record of village life. East Linton’s annual volunteer-organized art exhibition will showcase local artists’ work and award competition prizes.
