Askarov allows five in 6-3 Bruins win
The Sharks leaned heavily on Yaroslav Askarov early in the season, giving him his fifth start in six games against Boston as the 24-year-old develops into a potential No. 1 goalie. After entering the matchup 2-2 with an .860 save percentage, Askarov allowed five goals on 25 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Bruins, extending his losing streak to three games. He has allowed at least three goals in each of his five appearances, while Alex Nedeljkovic had stopped 24 shots in his only start, a 3-2 overtime win. Coach Ryan Warsofsky said the upcoming schedule, including a back-to-back, makes having both goalies ready important, and Nedeljkovic acknowledged the Sharks’ intention to give the highly drafted Askarov opportunities to develop.
