Authors visit schools to inspire young readers
Authors are visiting schools and libraries to encourage children to read, use their imaginations and connect with stories. In North Dakota, children’s author Marsha DesLauriers entertained kindergarten through second-grade students with songs, puppets and readings, while El Paso author Lisa Caprelli urged students to value original thinking and human connection. In Oregon, a library association is bringing three authors to schools and public events so young readers can meet the writers behind books on a student reading list. In the UK, a winning class received a visit from Lottie Brooks author Katie Kirby, including a drawing session and a preview of her forthcoming book. Local author Angela Pressly also shared a story inspired by her dog and regional wildlife with young students, introducing them to how real-life experiences can shape books.
