Bayer plans $2.2B Ohio pharma campus
Bayer plans to invest $2.2 billion in a pharmaceutical manufacturing campus in New Albany, Ohio, to supply U.S. and global markets with medicines initially focused on oncology, cardiovascular disease and renal care. Construction is expected to begin next year, with a drug-substance module slated to open in 2031 and a drug-product module planned for 2034; the site will use digital and automation technologies. The project is expected to create about 600 permanent jobs and 1,500 construction jobs. Ohio officials say a new life-sciences training center, backed by up to $30 million from JobsOhio, will prepare workers for biomanufacturing roles. Bayer says the project builds on more than $7 billion in U.S. research, development and manufacturing investment over the past five years and expands its domestic production network.
