Bob Mackie's death certificate reveals head trauma
Bob Mackie's death certificate lists blunt head trauma and a subarachnoid hemorrhage as the immediate causes of death. The certificate, obtained by Us Weekly nearly a month after he died, shows the costume designer died on September 14 at age 87, three days after a fall at the Palm Springs home of longtime design director Joseph McFate. His team announced the death that day in an Instagram statement saying he lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a fashion and costume designer. Representatives had initially attributed the cause to pneumonia. A spokesperson later said Mackie was staying in McFate's guest house, a healthcare professional was with him when he fell, and he was also suffering from pneumonia both before and after his hospitalization. One account specifies death at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. The certificate states he was cremated on September 17 and his remains were scattered at sea off San Diego County. Cher, Miley Cyrus, and Sabrina Carpenter posted tributes after the announcement.
