Broins Donate 20 Acres to Expand Great Bear

Jeff and Tammie Broin are donating 20.5 acres adjoining Sioux Falls’ Great Bear Recreation Park, expanding the more-than-220-acre park to about 240 acres. City officials say the land will preserve green space for conservation and future public recreation, supporting Great Bear’s role as a four-season destination; no immediate development plans have been set. The gift requires review by the Parks and Recreation Board and final approval by the City Council. The Broins have also supported Sioux Falls parks with a previous $1.3 million donation, made with the Ashby family, for a recreation-trail extension.
