American Plans 40,000-Plus-Square-Foot Charlotte Admirals Club
American Airlines plans to build a more than 40,000-square-foot Admirals Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, making it the largest lounge in its network. The lounge will occupy the atrium’s mezzanine level and include work and relaxation areas, dining, bars, spa-style shower suites and views of the concourse. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, and the lounge is slated to open in early 2028; existing American lounges will remain available during construction. The project addresses crowding and dated facilities at Charlotte, American’s second-largest hub, and is part of a broader plan that also includes a new Flagship Lounge, with no timeline announced for that project.
