Court Allows Reliance’s Campa Energy Drink Label
The Delhi High Court on Oct. 6, 2026, granted interim relief allowing Reliance to market Campa products as energy drinks while it challenges a June 30 FSSAI order directing makers of high-caffeine beverages to stop using that description. At the hearing the court questioned why FSSAI gave Reliance no prior notice and told the agency it was "never too late" to correct its mistake. The case returns Nov. 5. Reliance's Oct. 1 petition said stock seizures and e-commerce delistings had caused "substantial disruption to the Petitioner's business operations and adversely affect its market presence and commercial goodwill." It cited 168 million cans and 120 million plastic bottles of finished inventory and pre-printed packaging for 400 million cans and 360 million bottles with the label. PepsiCo and Monster Beverage sued FSSAI last week over the same order. On Sept. 29 the court set aside FSSAI's order against Red Bull for lack of a show-cause notice. Reliance revived Campa in 2023. India's energy-drink retail sales are growing 12.6% a year, with the market projected at $1.6 billion by 2028, per Euromonitor data cited by Reuters.
