Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribe Approves Three-Year Data Center Ban

Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal citizens voted 261-83 to impose a three-year moratorium on data center construction on tribal lands, giving the tribe time to study potential projects. Supporters raised concerns about heavy water use, environmental impacts on land and wildlife, and the need for transparency and clear protections for tribal water rights. Gov. Reggie Wassana argued that data centers could bring economic benefits to the tribe, but said no agreement has been signed and potential proposals would require further study and community discussion.
