Chuck Schumer-Aligned PAC Pulls Funding From Georgia Senate Race As Democrats Grow More Confident
By Daily Caller News Foundation (/journals/dcnf)
The Democrats’ top campaign arm pulled money from the Georgia Senate race Tuesday as Democratic Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff held a comfortable lead.
Ossoff led Republican Georgia Rep. Mike Collins by an average of 8.1 points as of Tuesday in a state that President Donald Trump won by two points in 2024, according to RealClearPolling. The Senate Majority PAC, a super PAC aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, pulled money because they were confident in Ossoff’s chances heading into November.
“Mike Collins is floundering and Republicans have all stopped spending in Georgia. Senate Majority PAC will continue to monitor this race closely but has made the decision to remove its week 3 ad spending,” the PAC said in a statement. “Senator Ossoff continues to have a competitive lead in the polls, bolstered by his broad appeal to independent and swing voters who want a senator who will fight to lower costs.”
Ossoff had over $42.58 million of cash on hand, while Collins had just over $2 million, according to the latest Federal Elections Commission (FEC) filings.
Cook Political Report, a prominent elections forecaster, listed the race as “likely Democratic.”
Ossoff and Collins’ campaigns did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s requests for comment.
The PAC removed roughly $1.1 million in North Carolina advertisement buys while former Democratic North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper led Republican North Carolina Senate nominee and former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley by several points. It continued its ad spending in New Hampshire, Maine, Michigan, Kansas, Iowa, Texas, Alaska and Ohio.
The Senate Leadership Fund, the Republicans’ top Senate campaign arm, pulled funding from Georgia and increased spending in red states, including Texas, Kansas and South Dakota. Candidates in deep red states struggled to hold comfortable leads against their Democratic opponents throughout the general election cycle.
The GOP campaign arm planned to spend $5 million to support Republican South Carolina Sen. Darline Graham and $8 million to support Republican Nebraska Sen. Pete Ricketts.
