Cities announce local waste collection changes

Pittsville, Wisconsin, will hold its fall bulk-trash pickup on Nov. 19, 2026, with accepted items at the curb by 6 a.m.; appliances containing refrigerants are excluded, and bagged household goods must weigh less than 50 pounds. A city food-waste collection program described by Jamaica Plain News is moving from weekly to every-other-week service, a change officials say will open spots for waitlisted households, reduce truck traffic and emissions, and save about $700,000 a year. Cheyenne, Wyoming, will shift trash, recycling, and yard-waste routes back one day for the week of the Oct. 12 Columbus Day holiday, with several waste facilities also changing their hours. In Bemidji, Minnesota, customers whose refuse is normally collected Monday, Oct. 12, will instead receive pickup Tuesday, Oct. 13, for the Indigenous Peoples Day/Columbus Day holiday.
