City Councils Address Housing, Transit, Public Safety
Charlottesville City Council has been addressing housing, budgeting and state policy priorities. A month after the 2000 Holiday Drive shelter opened, officials reported that 112 people had stayed there and 14 had moved on to other housing. In a separate housing discussion, the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority briefed council on planned property purchases and sought additional funding and policy changes. Council also agreed to retain a mid-April target for adopting its FY28 budget. Its proposed 2027 legislative agenda spans housing, transportation, sustainability, tenant rights and land use, including support for regional passenger rail and expanded tools to address blighted properties.
