Colorado air traffic controller paramotors to work

Jake Hutzler, a 28-year-old air traffic controller in Pueblo, Colorado, commutes to work about once a week by paramotor, a motorized propeller worn like a backpack beneath a paraglider wing. The roughly 20-minute trip takes him over local fields at about 35 mph, and he says he sometimes enjoys coffee or breakfast during the flight. Because he does not show up on radar, Hutzler contacts his colleagues before takeoff and updates them on his position and altitude, then waits for clearance to land at the airport. After checking the rules and getting approval from his workplace, he began the unusual commute, which he says is less convenient than driving but far more enjoyable.
