Communities, nonprofits expand housing support
Community groups and nonprofits are addressing housing needs in different ways, from building safe homes for families in Vietnam to providing affordable housing for seniors and people with special needs in the United States. In An Nhon Dong, local organizations helped two financially struggling families complete new homes, easing safety concerns ahead of storm season. In Roanoke, Restoration Housing is raising funds to sustain its affordable-housing work after completing a project that created homes for 15 seniors. New Jersey’s The Warehouse NJ furnishes homes for people rebuilding their lives, while Rose House is raising support for a planned development that will add affordable housing and around-the-clock care for 12 people with special needs. Separately, a young Perth couple’s experience highlighted how unfamiliar first-time buyers can be with mortgages, fees and other essential home-buying costs.
