Communities plan fundraisers supporting farms, food access
Several community fundraisers are using food and local agriculture to support nonprofit work. In Baton Rouge, Baton Roots and the Walls Project are hosting their inaugural Boots on the Farm dinner, featuring locally grown ingredients, entertainment and proceeds directed to the farm’s food-access and education programs. Old Town Cape in Cape Girardeau will hold a four-course farm-to-table dinner with local ingredients, live entertainment and a silent auction to raise money for the organization. In Stratford, the House of Blessing’s Empty Bowls fundraiser will pair locally made bowls with food from more than 25 vendors, music and auctions to support people facing food insecurity.
