Communities Schedule Free Hazardous-Waste Disposal Events

Residents in several communities have opportunities to dispose of household hazardous waste for free in October. Burien’s Wastemobile will accept items such as batteries, pesticides, motor oil, oil-based paint and antifreeze Oct. 9–11 at the Fred Meyer on First Avenue South. Santa Rosa County will hold a drop-off event Oct. 10 at its South Santa Rosa Service Center, while Allen County residents can bring hazardous materials to 2260 Carroll Road that day, with fees waived; electronics are not accepted at the Allen County facility. Madison County residents can use a drive-through collection at the District 4 office in Harvest on Oct. 14, and its Handle With Care facility in Huntsville is also open on weekdays.
