CPS plans enhanced abuse victim support
Domestic violence can involve physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse, and isolation and control may make it difficult for survivors to seek help. A domestic violence organization in Illinois says its services are free and confidential and encourages survivors to reach out regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred. In England and Wales, the Crown Prosecution Service is rolling out a service that gives domestic abuse victims a dedicated liaison officer, more frequent case updates and a choice of contact method. A petition to the UK government calls for trauma-informed specialist advocates to help victims report abuse, access mental health support and navigate safeguarding and justice systems.
