Eight-Player Football Playoff Brackets Released

Wisconsin’s eight-player football playoff brackets begin Oct. 17 and end with the state championship Nov. 14 in Wisconsin Rapids. Belmont earned the top seed after strong wins over several other seeded teams, while Gilman, Valley Christian and Wabeno/Laona lead the remaining brackets; Valley Christian faces a particularly difficult route to the final. The bracket also includes several long first-round trips, including journeys of nearly 200 miles for Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas and Tri-County. In Washington, several high school teams put unbeaten records or winning streaks on the line in Week 6, including Eastmont against Othello, Selah at Toppenish and Prosser at Ellensburg.
