The Batman Part II pauses production as Matt Reeves steps away for family matter
Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced Monday, October 5, that production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. The studio said he has their full support and they look forward to continuing the journey soon. Filming began in July 2026 in London, including a Bruce Wayne protest sequence and Court of Fowls set piece. The release is February 18, 2028, after slips from October 2, 2026 and fall 2027. Deadline first reported the news; sources said it is too early to tell if the date moves. Pattinson called the script "extraordinary" and the film "very, very different" from 2022. Farrell called the script "a masterwork" and said Reeves will make "an extraordinary film." Gunn denied Part II and Part III filming together ("I can deny") and told fans to "get off Matt Reeves' nuts" over earlier delays. Reeves had teased Pattinson in costume and Batman and the Batmobile in snow. Contested: Times Now headlined that Reeves "Steps Down"; the studio called the stop a temporary pause. ANI used "steps away." Deadline sources left the February 18, 2028 date open.
