Foreigner’s Texas Choir Collaborations Span Tour
Foreigner is sharing the stage with student choirs in Texas, giving young singers opportunities to perform the band’s hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” and connect with music across generations. Jacksonville High School’s choir won a radio contest for a concert appearance, while Slaton High School students performed with the band at Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock. In San Antonio, 25 members of the Children’s Chorus are scheduled to sing with Foreigner at the Majestic Theatre on Oct. 13; singers were selected from across the city’s schools. The band has invited youth choirs to perform with it for nearly 20 years and gives participating choirs $500, using the appearances to spotlight the value of school music and arts education. Slaton’s director and Foreigner bassist Jeff Pilson emphasized how supportive music teachers can shape students’ futures, while students described the performances as rare, confidence-building opportunities.
