Westbrook Develops Series on Smith and Jazzy Jeff

Will Smith’s Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group are developing “215,” a scripted series about Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s rise from West Philadelphia teenagers to a Grammy-winning hip-hop duo. Set amid Philadelphia’s late-1980s and early-1990s hip-hop scene, the drama will follow the pair and their friends as they pursue a record deal and navigate hometown ties, sudden fame and strains on their friendships. The project is the first in a broader film and television partnership between Westbrook and The Malar Group. No writer has been attached.
