EU Accepts Sanofi Commitments, Settles Vaccine Probe

The European Commission accepted legally binding commitments from Sanofi, settling an antitrust investigation into alleged marketing that disparaged CSL Seqirus’s Fluad flu vaccine in Germany and France. Regulators said Sanofi’s campaign may have portrayed evidence for Fluad as weaker than evidence for its own Efluelda vaccine, contrary to findings by European and national health authorities. Sanofi agreed to correct the potential effects of its communications and to stop future messaging that negatively characterizes Fluad or casts doubt on its performance; the settlement avoids a fine. Sanofi previously said it believed it had complied with the law and was cooperating with the investigation.
