Five Coffee Shops Announce Closures Across Four Locations

Several coffee shops and café businesses have announced closures. Columbia, South Carolina’s Immaculate Consumption, a downtown fixture for more than 30 years, plans to close Nov. 20, months after its building was purchased by the University of South Carolina’s Development Foundation. In Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Kaleidoscope Coffee is set to shut next month; its co-owner cited nearby competition from Paloma the Bakery among the reasons. Sonnies’ Coffee House in Carrick-on-Shannon, Ireland, will close after its lease was not renewed, though a final date has not been set. Singapore’s last OldTown White Coffee outlet, at Kallang Wave Mall, is scheduled to close Oct. 11, 2026, after its landlord declined to renew the lease; the company says it may return to Singapore in the future.
