Flint Sets Aside 10 Apartments for Veterans
The Flint Housing Commission and affordable-housing nonprofit Communities First are setting aside 10 apartments at Orchard Manor for local veterans through the HUD-VASH program. The program pairs rental assistance with VA case management and supportive services, with veterans referred for the units by the VA. Commission officials say the apartments will provide stable, quality housing, while veterans may later use tenant-based vouchers to move elsewhere if they choose. The commission also has more than 40 vouchers available for veterans.
