Freelander 8 Tested Across 50 Global Road Types
Freelander, the independent brand formed through Chery and Jaguar Land Rover’s collaboration, is advancing the global rollout of the Freelander 8, which is expected to be offered as a plug-in hybrid, electric vehicle and extended-range electric vehicle. The international version is set for its first test drive at the 2026 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, where participants will try it on roads and challenging off-road terrain. Chery says the SUV combines dual-motor all-wheel drive, air suspension and terrain-management technology; under specified test conditions, it can climb gradients of up to 70% and ford water up to 900 millimeters deep. The company says its global validation program used more than 1,000 test vehicles across more than 50 road types, including extensive all-terrain durability testing.
