Furyk Hopes Reed Makes Ryder Cup Team

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk says past criticism from Patrick Reed over his handling of the 2018 matches will not rule Reed out of selection for next year’s contest at Adare Manor in Ireland. Furyk said he intends to choose the 12 best players and is open to discussing Reed’s candidacy with him. Reed has not played in a Ryder Cup since 2018, when he criticized Furyk for splitting him from Jordan Spieth and benching him twice. After leaving LIV Golf, Reed is expected to return to the PGA Tour next year and currently leads the DP World Tour points standings, putting him in contention for a place; six Americans will qualify automatically and Furyk will make six captain’s picks.
