Regional gas prices rise while national average edges down

Gasoline prices rose over the past week in Baltimore, Chattanooga and Iowa, reaching averages of $4.24, $3.81 and $4.25 per gallon, respectively; Iowa had the largest increase, at 13.4 cents, while Chattanooga rose 8.4 cents and Baltimore 4.5 cents. The national average edged down 0.4 cents to $4.29 per gallon, while the national diesel average fell 5.9 cents to $6.248. GasBuddy’s analyst said prices are moving cautiously in the right direction overall, but uncertainty around refinery impacts from Hurricane Isaias and broader geopolitical factors could still affect fuel supply and prices.
