General Dynamics Names Deep CEO, Novakovic to Chair

General Dynamics announced on Oct. 7, 2026 that company president Danny Deep will become CEO effective Jan. 1, 2027. Phebe Novakovic, CEO since January 2013, will become executive chairman. Deep, 56, is a 25-year veteran who became president in December 2025 and was elected to the board in August 2026. He has held roles including executive vice president of global operations, executive vice president of combat systems, and president of GD Land Systems. Novakovic is 68. In the company announcement, Novakovic called Deep “a highly skilled executive with rich operating experience” and said she looks forward to continuing collaboration. Deep said he is “profoundly honored to be selected as the next CEO” and grateful for their partnership. Independent lead director Laura J. Schumacher thanked Novakovic for outstanding leadership, setting a clear strategic vision, creating enduring value, and building a strong leadership team. General Dynamics reported $52.6 billion in revenue in 2025, up from $31 billion in 2017, and acquired CSRA for $9.7 billion in 2018. The move came five days after Amy Gilliland left as president of GDIT after a decade. No disputed facts on the transition appear in the record. Deep assumes the role Jan. 1, 2027, with Novakovic remaining as executive chairman.
