Giants’ Arvell Reese Emerges as DROY Contender
New York Giants rookie linebacker Arvell Reese is emerging as a serious Defensive Rookie of the Year contender after a strong first month and a standout Week 4 win over Arizona. He recorded nine solo tackles, an interception, three pass breakups and a tackle for loss against the Cardinals, continuing a run of increasingly impactful performances. Through four games, Reese has totaled 34 tackles, four pass breakups and three tackles for loss, while the Giants have used his versatility across the defense. Coach John Harbaugh praised Reese’s all-around play and said he is “taking off”; although his award case is gaining momentum, he is still seeking his first sack.
