Hermès shows lighter leather looks as shares fall
Nadège Vanhée presented Hermès Spring/Summer 2027 collection at Paris Fashion Week on Saturday at the Garde Republicaine. She used open-knit and sheer fabrics, organza, perforated and strip-worked leather, lightweight denim, silk and suede, with zippers, cutouts, fringe trims and flowing panels for ventilation. Models wore loose-knit brown and black tops and dresses revealing bandeau tops underneath, leather dresses and midi skirts sliced into thigh-high strips, and stacks of thick leather bracelets. Accessories included flat leather boots, capri-style sandals, small bucket bags with fishnet details, cross-body bags, slim leather clutches and cream leather bucket bags with open latticework. The palette ranged from beige, cream, powder blue and camel to vivid orange, sunflower yellow, chocolate and vermillion. Vanhée said: "Air can be perceptible, but also imperceptible, and I wanted to convert that idea into a very pragmatic silhouette." Celebrities including Sofia Vergara and Emmy Rossum fanned themselves with show notes inside the bright white show space due to heat. Vanhée has led Hermès womenswear since 2014 and is set to present Hermès' first haute couture collection in January. Hermès shares have fallen 39% since the start of the year. Paris Fashion Week runs through Oct. 6.
