Honor Flights bring veterans to Washington
Honor Flights are taking veterans from across the country to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials honoring their service, with communities also organizing welcomes home. Milwaukee veteran Nick Bokas, a Vietnam-era Marine who later spent nearly 40 years as a public defender, is preparing for a trip, while Iowa veteran Paul Tieszen was greeted by family and friends after his Honor Flight; his 41-year military career spanned the Navy, Marine Corps and Army. In Southwest Florida, Mission 30 is expected to bring dozens of veterans to the capital, and veteran Louie Grasso will be accompanied by his daughter, continuing a four-generation family legacy of military service. Spokane residents are also being invited to welcome local veterans, guardians and volunteers returning from their trip.
