Huntsville Airport Receives $1.9M Snow-Removal Facility Grant
Huntsville International Airport received a $1.9 million grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation to build a facility for storing and maintaining its snow- and ice-removal equipment. The 10,800-square-foot building will include three drive-through bays and space for deicing chemicals, snow-removal vehicles, runway sweepers and other maintenance equipment. Airport officials say protecting the fleet and improving crews’ access to it will help the airport respond more efficiently to winter weather and support the region’s growth. Construction is expected to take about six months once it begins.
