Jack in the Box disables San Diego anti-loitering sprinklers
A downtown San Diego Jack in the Box used building-mounted sprinklers alongside a recorded message telling people to leave or buy something, reportedly soaking customers and passersby without warning. Customers said the spray drenched them and damaged an electric bike, while advocates criticized the measure as harassment and called for accountability. After a local news report prompted an internal investigation, Jack in the Box said the recording was not approved and did not reflect its values, and that the sprinkler and recording had been disabled while it worked with the franchise owner to address the situation.
