Jeremiah Smith hits the Heisman pose after record TD catch at Iowa

Jeremiah Smith hauled in a 57-yard touchdown pass from Julian Sayin, crossed the goal line, and struck the Heisman pose in the end zone in front of the Iowa crowd.
That score was his 36th career touchdown catch, one past the Ohio State record Chris Olave set from 2018 to 2021. It put the Buckeyes up 24-6 on the road in Iowa City on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026.
Smith is a 20-year-old junior doing this in the middle of his third season. Olave reached 35 near the end of his fourth. Earlier against Kent State he had already broken Michael Jenkins’ school receiving-yards mark. Against Iowa he also tied Emeka Egbuka for most career receptions with his 205th catch in just his 34th game, finishing the day with 10 catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Ryan Day put the run in plain terms. “Just played a great game. It goes back to his work ethic, and the way he practices every day. A lot of these guys here look up to him, he's a great example not only for the young players in our program but a whole generation of kids that watch [Smith]. He's special.”
LeBron James, a noted Ohio State fan, gave him a shoutout for the record. Bleacher Report posted the FOX Sports clip of the pose and it drew 14,048 likes.
