Johnson campaigns for Pennsylvania Republicans in tight races

House Speaker Mike Johnson campaigned across Pennsylvania to help Republicans defend their narrow House majority, calling the races of Rep. Rob Bresnahan and Rep. Scott Perry especially important. In Perry’s competitive 10th District race against Democrat Janelle Stelson, Johnson highlighted Republican tax provisions and praised Harrisburg University’s manufacturing programs; he also acknowledged that the Iran war and higher fuel prices pose political and economic challenges. In the 8th District, Johnson called Bresnahan’s contest one of the country’s top three races, while Bresnahan touted federal funding for the region and criticized his opponent, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti.
