Magistrate Releases Three CJP Leaders Under Peace Condition
A Delhi SEM court on 11 October 2026 released CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Police detained them on 10 October under sections 126/170 BNSS inside an aircraft at IGI Airport after landing for a protest seeking Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. A Rs 50,000 surety bond required peace and good behaviour for one year, police said. Over 3,000 protesters were detained that Saturday, more than 250 trains cancelled, up to 45 metro stations closed and over 20 FIRs filed. Detained leaders included Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Pinarayi Vijayan. Contested: CJP posted that Delhi Police was forced to release the three and that the cockroaches never die. A BJP spokesperson, per BBC/DR News, called demonstrators a few anarchist forces attempting to hold India captive. Opponents of the revision allege it could exclude eligible citizens and benefit Narendra Modi's BJP; election authorities and the BJP reject the accusations. Rahul Gandhi urged youth to keep protesting, saying they already have the information they need and will not back down. The electoral-roll dispute remains unresolved. CJP called for daily marches to Jantar Mantar.
