Man wounded in Williston officer-involved shooting
Vermont State Police are investigating after a Williston police officer shot and injured a man shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday on Route 2A, between Butternut Road and Old Creamery Road. The man was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center; Williston police later said he was in stable condition. The officer was also treated for injuries and released, and has been placed on paid administrative leave. Officials said the officer had been dispatched for a reported roadway hazard, but have not detailed what led to the shooting; neither person has been publicly identified. Route 2A was closed in the area during the investigation, and the state police will refer their findings to prosecutors for independent reviews of the use of force.
