Maryland Bus Driver Removed After Kitten Rescue
Cynthia Morgan, a longtime school bus driver in Maryland’s Harford County, was removed from her route after allowing 10-year-old Alex Thomas to get off the bus on a rural road and rescue an injured kitten. School officials reportedly cited violations of safety and operating protocols, including that Morgan continued driving with the kitten in her lap after dropping Alex at school. Parents have rallied behind Morgan and petitioned for her reinstatement, praising her care for students while some also acknowledge that letting a child leave the bus was a safety mistake. Harford County Public Schools said it could not discuss an individual driver’s certification status and noted that Morgan worked for a contracted bus company, not the school system.
