NHTSA closes Jeep fire probe after 1.08M recall
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed its preliminary investigation into fire risks in Jeep Wrangler SUVs and Gladiator trucks after Stellantis recalled about 1.08 million vehicles. The probe began after reports of fires in parked vehicles with the ignition off; some appeared to originate near the power-steering pump. The recall covers 2021–2025 Wranglers and Gladiators built between June 2020 and December 2024. Regulators said the recall addressed the conditions under investigation but will continue monitoring repairs and could take further action if needed.
