North Carolina Outages, Queensland Cattle Prices Rise
Heavy rain and wind have caused power disruptions in several areas, including more than 15,000 reported outages across North Carolina, with thousands in Davie and Alamance counties; a broken power pole was blamed for the outages in Alamance. In Hall County, emergency officials activated the Emergency Operations Center as rainfall and wind gusts increased, though initial reports cited only two fallen trees and no flooding. Separately, families in western Pennsylvania have shown stronger interest in backup generators after prolonged storm-related outages, with a local generator business reporting a sharp rise in demand. Consumer experts describe whole-home standby generators as a reliable option for extended outages, but note that they can cost thousands of dollars.
