Nylander Hits 700 Points, Leafs Beat Avalanche 6-3
William Nylander recorded two goals and three assists for five points as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 on Oct. 10, 2026 in Denver, reaching 700 career NHL points in 756 games. His second goal tied the score 3-3 with 3:13 left in the second and marked the milestone; he said he did not realize he had hit 700 until after the game. Two Toronto goals 46 seconds apart late in the second swung the game. Auston Matthews had two goals and two assists, including an empty-net goal at 19:21 of the third. Nick Blankenburg scored at 3:03 of the first on his first shift in his Leafs debut. Sergei Bobrovsky made 30 saves for his first win as a Maple Leaf. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for Colorado and Brock Nelson also scored; Mackenzie Blackwood made 17 saves. Colorado went 0-for-5 on the power play, Toronto 2-for-4 with a 5-for-5 penalty kill. Jared Bednar said mental mistakes by a couple of players, not lack of effort, led to the chances Toronto converted. Auston Matthews said the Leafs had not been good enough in front of Bobrovsky earlier and had to weather the storm to grind out a win.
