Officials Across States Warn Against Illegal Campaign Signs
Transportation departments and local governments across several states are reminding candidates and supporters that campaign signs cannot be placed in public or highway rights-of-way, on utility poles, or where they obstruct drivers’ views. Officials say unauthorized signs can create hazards and interfere with road maintenance, and crews may remove them. Rules for retrieving removed signs vary: some agencies hold them for pickup, while others discard smaller signs or dispose of signs after a set period.
