Officials test voting equipment across states
Election officials in Colorado, Hawaii and Florida are testing voting equipment ahead of the 2026 general election to verify that systems are correctly programmed and count votes accurately. Denver officials said testing is conducted in a restricted, offline area and is followed by an audit, while bipartisan workers participate. Hawaii and Lee County, Florida, are also having officials and designated observers oversee accuracy tests, with Lee County inviting the public to watch. In Colorado, volunteers are additionally training to observe polling places, report problems and help address barriers to voting.
