Open Mic Events Showcase Youth, Local Performers
A youth open mic at Potomac Gardens Recreation Center in Washington, D.C., brought about 40 children together to perform and share pizza as part of the D.C. Housing Authority’s Summer of Safety, an effort to promote safe, productive summers and connect young people with community services and police. Other listings describe recurring or extended open mics welcoming performers in music, poetry, comedy, dance and other arts, including events at Cut River Grille, a Madison open mic hosted by Dana Perry, and a Northstar creative-community gathering in Ann Arbor. The events offer different formats and resources, from provided instruments and amplification to flexible performance slots and a pay-what-you-can cover.
